Golf Digest South Africa has returned and is being published as a digital magazine. The 2024 Top 100 rankings will be unveiled in the May issue of the magazine on Wednesday, May 8. They will also be updated on the Top 100 Courses website.
GDSA published the original Top 50 rankings in 1998 – increasing to a Top 100 in 2002 – and continued to present them until December 2018 when the print run of the magazine ended. The Golf Digest brand was revived in South Africa last year with the licensing rights being acquired under the new ownership of Moregolf in Gauteng.
GDSA is free to access. There is no subscription fee and the current March/April issue and back issues, including the 2024 Equipment Hot List, can be found on the MyGolfLife website by signing in with a cellphone number. MyGolfLife
The magazine provides helpful instructional articles – some with video links – previews of major championships, and features.
The SA Top 100 Courses website, established in 2020, will continue to be the home of the rankings in partnership with Golf Digest SA where all data is stored. This is where 144 courses have their own pages, and where readers can view the 8 regional rankings, the ranking criteria, and breakdown of points for each of those criteria. Past rankings from 2021 to 2023 can be found on the Criteria link.
Golf clubs which do not yet have a page of their own on the website are welcome to apply for inclusion. We want to increase the numbers.
Golfers can still submit reviews and ratings of courses they have played on the Top 100 website. And the results of those ratings – club facilities and Conditioning – are there to be measured on the Top-Rated Category lower down the home page.
