I had the privilege to walk the course with my caddie and not use a cart after heavy rain. Although there were wet areas and standing water the course drains amazingly well in the landing area off the tee. It was still firm enough to allow for run on the fairways. On my previous visit only Links members had access to the range. However, this time the range was open to all. World-class facilities add to the experience. The course is very playable when the appropriate tee is chosen. Great variety in design offering many shot options. The amount of work being done on and around the course is impressive. The recent planting of rough areas was noticeable around the start of the 18th fairway. It is easy to relate why The Links rates as one of the best in the world outside the USA.
