Clarens is one of South Africa’s most scenic inland courses, with glorious vistas, and there’s a lot of enjoyment to be had playing this modern layout, which is what you would expect at a holiday destination. The challenging shots are there, yet playability is foremost, and these are 18 holes which will satisfy both the scratch golfer and higher handicaps. Longer hitters will certainly embrace the prospect of driving one or two par 4 greens, and attacking the par 5s. There’s already been a hole-in-one at the par-4 16th, although the green is hidden from sight of the tee. Clarens itself is a relaxing spot to while away a few days, and for golfing groups it’s a weekend getaway offering a variety of after-golf attractions.
