The magnificent views alone are worth a visit to Swellendam’s 9-holer built on a hill above this attractive and historic town. It’s both an interesting and challenging layout, and a well-conditioned one. There are a diminishing number of 9-holers on the N2 between Cape Town and George (Caledon and Riviersonderend have closed) and Swellendam is the pick of what’s left. A bonus for visitors is that it has an operational staffed clubhouse during the week with good facilities and security. Good place to stop for 9 holes if you’re heading from Cape Town on a golf tour to the Garden Route.
