Steenberg is in the best condition it has been in many years. The greens are superb. Recent hard work to improve the fairways has paid off, with less thatch and more run. Personally I would like to see the course play firmer through the summer months, with reduced watering. Only the bunkers let the course down. They are inconsistent, some stony, others with no sand. The club is considering proposals to refresh elements of the course and address the bunker issue. Prime consideration will be given to future water use as the arrangement for treated effluent water is coming to an end.
