Southbroom made the decision a year ago to outsource their maintenance to Matko Group and it has had a hugely positive effect on the overall conditioning and presentation of this wonderful South Coast gem which has been clinging to its lowly position in the Top 100 for a few years. It has never not been in the Top 100. New machinery to properly cut and shape the holes has resuscitated the old lady’s looks, and the village of Southbroom is likewise doing well with an influx of new residents. The winding road to the course from the N2 has been tarred. Southbroom has one of the finest settings in SA golf, standing on No 4 tee, above a deserted beach and Indian Ocean waves. You feel like you should stop awhile and perhaps open a bottle of wine. Derek and Sheena James continue to present an excellent pro shop experience for members and guests. Their shop interior benefits from big windows, natural light, and a view of the tenth tee.
