Having not played Southbroom in years, I was looking forward to returning. My memory might be foggy, but I cannot remember the course being in such good condition as it is now. The fairways were immaculate, the greens slightly faster than other South Coast courses. Southbroom is said to be the shortest of our Top 100 courses and it offers a combination of long and short holes. Three of the par 5s are great risk and reward holes. The famous beach hole, the stunningly beautiful par-3 fourth, played easier as the wind conditions were favourable. Due to being a twoball on a busy competition day, we played the course in a different routing to normal to speed up our round. Played 10-13 slowly before returning to the clubhouse, then 1-9, followed by 14-18. It worked very well.
