Silver Lakes lives up to its reputation as being an eco-friendly estate course. The trees and wetlands are a feature of this layout. For the first three holes — the dullest on the course — you feel hemmed in by houses, and only at the fourth do you get a true picture of what makes this is an attractive place to play. Good holes follow one after the other, and the bushveld aspect takes effect. Silver Lakes has three attractive par 3s in 9, 13 and 16. The island fairway on the par-5 14th looks a dated concept.
