Pleasant and scenic 9-holer which being short is fun to play for a wide variety of golfers. There’s enough to challenge the low handicap, particularly the two par 5s and attractive stroke 1 second. The 280-metre dogleg left seventh is a notably good short par 4 where going for the green carries considerable risk but is tempting. Most will lay up short of a rocky stream (100 metres short of green), that also comes into play on the uphill fourth. Sandy Lane’s conditioning is impressively good, with smooth-running bent grass greens that are well designed and bunkered. The par-3 eighth will be improved by removing tall reeds that hide part of the green and a view of the Hartbeespoort Dam. Neat and simple clubhouse.
