It hasn’t been a particularly wet summer in Gauteng, yet Royal has had more heavy rain showers than most clubs in the region, and it is unfortunately affecting playability due to the undulating terrain. Several fairways on West are soft and muddy as water gravitates to low-lying areas, the worst being that on the uphill dogleg left 15th, with drives burying into the wet ground. One ball disappeared. The greens were unaffected though and putting rather well. Only one greenside bunker, right of No 2, was damaged.
