Royal’s greens would be the envy of many Top 100 courses. They are creatively designed and the putting surfaces are superb. The course itself though lacks something in definition between fairway and rough. I stood on the tee of the short par-4 11th and there was no way a visitor would know what line to take, straight at the green or at a lone bunker on the left. It was all a sea of green grass, but what was fairway and what was rough? The clubhouse has a fabulous bar area, one of the best 19th holes in terms of the old traditional style. I was also impressed by the large putting green in front of the clubhouse.
