Work has started on redesigning the bunkers on No 3, and they are a massive improvement to the old deep bunkers supported by concrete. Hopefully this work will extend to the rest of the Firethorn bunkers. A problem with some of the deep fairway bunkers is that the bottoms have flattened out since they were built almost 10 years ago. Instead of the ball finding a lie in the middle of a bunker, it rolls to the front lip. This has a thick layer of sand with concrete immediately underneath. The work being undertaken will improve the bunkering and hopefully bring the Firethorn back to its original best condition.
