Not only is this one of the most picturesque Garden Route courses, it also ranks as one of the trickiest. There’s a reason red stakes line several holes on the back nine; the pace of play would be slow if your ball was to be treated as lost every time a wayward shot found the dense bush. Though the fairways are wide, trouble often lurks on both sides. I love the clever design of the greens, yet many call for pinpoint accuracy due to their narrow shapes and undulations. No 11 is a devilish short par 3 (102 to 122m) where hitting the green doesn’t guarantee a par due to its slopes. The other 3s are equally superb and testing. Parring all four in the same round is some feat of golf. The greens are relatively firm right now, which means you don’t want to short-side yourself when you miss one. General conditioning and presentation outstanding.
