Mooinooi last week hosted the three-day men’s Challenge Interprovincial for the first time, and the players loved this North West Province course for many reasons, including its magnificent condition. Jaun Liebenberg, who is both club manager and greenkeeper, presented a rural 9-hole course equal to any of the top layouts in Gauteng. Immaculate. Looking at the A1/A4 bent grass greens a week later they are still pristine and pure. They were running at 11 in the tournament. And not a blade of poa in them. Mooinooi should be celebrated as one of our best 9-holers. A challenging tree-lined design with creative greens complexes and attractive bunkering. There’s an emphasis on straight driving and finding fairways. Mature bushveld trees are a feature of the property, making for terrific aesthetics.
