Excellent use of water hazards on this course keeps golfers on their toes. Water in play on approaches to nine different greens, a high percentage. Most are connected to the streams flowing through Modderfontein, but someone still thought an artificial pond was necessary at No 2 green. Looks out of place on a strong 4, but with the least interesting green of the 18. Every tee shot is a challenge because of the variety of the design, which you can’t say of many courses. You can find yourself out of position even when you stay on the fairway. Slick greens rolling beautifully, and this is a delightful and good value day out.
