Maccauvlei is worth the drive to the Vaal River (on any day of the week). The layout is interesting and varied, with testing par 4s and long par 3s. The Vaal frontage of some holes is enjoyable and provides good views and interesting variety on the back nine. A highly recommended day out from Johannesburg or Pretoria.
