A newish water feature on the back nine at Maccauvlei has transformed the aesthetics and look of 13 and 14 which lie side by side in a far corner of the course. The par-4 13th has a daunting approach with a wide expanse of water close to the right side of the green, while the par-3 14th is equally challenging with water fronting the green. The two new stone bridges entering and exiting the 13th green are attractive features. Plenty of excellent holes here, with a scenic and testing finish starting at 15 alongside the Vaal River. This hole and others were under water in late February-early March when the Vaal Dam sluice gates were opened. The dogleg left 17th with its gigantic bunker must be one of the finest par-4s in South Africa. Very good pro shop and the 19th hole in the 1920s clubhouse has so much character.
