Hermanus is one of my favourite places to play, set in a beautiful environment, with great routing, green and bunker complexes. The prevailing sea breeze challenges the ball in the air, and undulations challenge it on the ground. My only gripe was to find the course wet underfoot in summer, often squelchy. The fairways are magnificent and lush, but thatchy in places. This is a lovely parkland course, and would be so much better playing hard. The extra nine is useful if you need just a “wee bit more.”
