Goldfields West in the early autumn is heaven. Such a beautiful tranquil spot to walk and play golf in bushveld country an hour from the hustle and bustle of the city. During the week it is peaceful with just herds of buck to keep you company. The greens are on the firm side which was a pleasant change from the softer greens of so many courses today. One job you don’t need to do at Goldfields is fix pitch marks. There are none on these cynodon greens. It takes a while to get to know how they putt in terms of speed and nap (unfortunately no practice putting green). The course is presented better than I have seen it before, fairways attractively shaped, and the semi-rough doesn’t present a problem in finding balls.
