Erinvale experiences some unusual wind shifts on its back nine among the higher slopes of this estate. It comes in unexpected blasts, swirls around and you have to be alert to changes of direction. It makes the layout more challenging in club selection. The back nine was cleverly designed. So much variety and terrific elevation changes. No 11 is a five-star short par 4, slightly uphill, the lengthy green protected by mounds, deep bunkers and tricky pin positions. And No 15 is another standout shortish par 4 with a twisting fairway and downhill approach to a narrow sliver of a green. All this played out to a magnificent backdrop of rugged mountains. Together with an attractive clubhouse there is no doubting its popularity with tourists.
