The vistas at Erinvale are superb. Course in excellent shape and greens likely some of the best in the region. During the holidays it was busy, yet the pace of play acceptable. The design variety provides points of interest and the reachable 5s are fun to play. Elevation changes on the back nine is the course’s best defence, with uphill approaches at 11, 12 and 13. The par 3s (2-8-12-14) are my favourites, with varied shot options depending on the prevailing breeze. The downhill 17th (stroke 2) is one of the most demanding holes. A narrow landing area and greens complex places a premium on position. The parallel finishing holes (9 & 18) remind me of other Gary Player designs where there is space off the tee, but then a demanding approach into well-guarded greens. Excellent service, an attractive 19th, and well-stocked pro shop.
