Eagle Canyon is an unusual layout for Gauteng, where parkland courses dominate. There are very few trees in play and the main risk comes from plentiful water hazards. Elevation changes within the canyon create exciting holes. The course has had its detractors yet has improved immeasurably and is eminently playable today, with terrific conditioning. I liked the variety of testing holes on the back nine. The greens are big, yet generally easy to putt on.
