Undoubtedly one of our best 9-holers. Played the first 9 in benign, windless conditions and then the second 9 in a two-club wind which showed just how different the course can play within a few hours after a change in conditions. This proved a blessing as several holes share the same tee box on each nine which makes one feel you’re playing the same hole twice. This doesn’t necessarily detract from the enjoyment of the round as most holes are so scenically spectacular. The various tee boxes on the par-3 5th/14th, played over water, can change the angle to the green by almost 60m from left to right. The signature hole, the par-5 6th/15th, is a classic risk-reward hole where the wide fairway meanders around a huge dam and the peninsula green therein is tempting to take on with the second shot. For those golfers who travel between Gauteng and KZN, next time leave earlier and stop to play this gem along the route. You will not be disappointed.
