Millions of plastic water bottles are sold at clubs, then discarded, sometimes carelessly into wetlands and out-of-play areas. Blair Atholl is countering this unsustainable practice by building water fountains on the course and asking members and visitors to take reusable bottles when playing. Good environmental initiative. The putting experience on the oversized greens at Blair Atholl is a feature of teeing up here. If a pin is tucked away on one end of a green you can face lengthy putts of 30 metres and more. The best putters come to the fore in those circumstances because the second putt is usually not in tap-in range.
