Blair Atholl is a stern test. The conditions were sublime although the greens had been hollow-tined, meaning they were not running as pure and quickly as usual. This does detract a bit from the experience as the greens complexes are the highlight for me. It was good to see new bunker sand being put into several bunkers and work being done to shape and keep these in top condition, something many courses don’t do often enough. The experience and customer service at Blair Atholl is top notch. Some damage has been done to greens by springbok but it didn’t affect play and I’m comfortable with that given it adds a South African aspect to the course.
