Bellville, a course already divided into three separate sections (7-4-7) by suburban roads, is losing a small part of its property as a result of the current widening of the main M16 road (Jip de Jager Drive) past the club into a dual carriageway. The encroachment of the road on to the course has seen an unfortunate loss of trees and ground behind the par-5 17th green and par-4 13th green. The road also comes close to the 11th tee. Quite an eyesore. Playing into the 17th green golfers are now looking at an open gap on to the road. Bellville is a strong test with its many sloping fairways and differently designed holes, and the greens are consistently good. There’s always a friendly welcoming atmosphere in the clubhouse, from halfway house to members and management.
