Woodhill is slowly but surely recovering from last year’s chain of events which resulted in damage to the overall condition of the course. New greenkeeper Pieter Cooper (ex-Wingate Park) has been kept busy restoring it back to a healthy look. Fairways and surrounds are green and carpeted again, and the greens improving every day after hollow-tining in January. A major project coming up this winter will involve Bunker Armour fixing the drainage of all the bunkers and replacing the sand. Woodhill has brownish sand in its bunkers, and they will become white, transforming the overall look. The five bunkers on the par-3 12th have already been done as a trial, and the white sand works well. From the elevated back tee at 12 the two back bunkers appear to be immediately behind the green, giving definition to the hole. Yet this pair are a good 25 metres behind the green, with a hollow in between.
