The rains have not impacted Waterkloof as significantly as some Gauteng layouts. Drainage is generally good and conditioning excellent. Course improvements are mostly due to a focus on attention to detail. Greens impressive, fast and true. The definition cuts from fairway through first and second cuts are looking good. Rounds up and membership numbers strong (over 900). Good to see many young golfers playing. Design variety good, with a strong set of par 4s headlined by the imposing uphill ninth at 432m off club tee. The 3s are personal favourites, and the alternate tee box on 17 (directly over water hazard) is such fun to play (122 off club). No 8 is similar, 130 to a well-guarded green with water right and a large bunker behind. Aesthetics very good with good sight lines and flowing topography.
