Greens in excellent shape, rolling true. The club’s new irrigation system is making an impact, as the conditioning was good compared to where it used to be during a Jozi winter. Wanderers has a good blend of “risk-reward” and long, tight 4s (most notably stroke 1 seventh). The 3s are a special mix, 6 & 17 greens guarded by penalty areas and bunkers. No 17 has a challenging green. There are just three 5s (1 & 10 long, 13 short at 480 from yellow) and all seem to defend par. Construction work around the sixth green and seventh tee has settled nicely with the dam fronting the par 3 blending in well. Good to see Wanderers back in decent shape. Its Achilles heel though remains the halfway house. Poor service and uncertain waiting times. It’s not keeping pace with other Gauteng clubs.
