I always feel a good course is one where you can hit driver on every hole but you don’t have to, and Ruimsig is one of those. It is a great layout with several good holes. The uphill par-4 sixth is one of the most challenging, with fairway bunkers to be avoided. The green is tricky and undulating and it’s an uphill approach. My favourite hole is the 14th, a long par 5 with water down the right side of the fairway and bordering the green. Two excellent shots required to set up a birdie opportunity. The Ruimsig greens were in good condition, although slow.
