A classic old layout south of Johannesburg which is a strong and enjoyable test of shot-making and strategy. Great value too. In very good condition, greens rolling true and tee boxes well maintained. Improvements have been made to the bunker edging which adds to the aesthetics. A narrow par 4 opener sets the tone for the round. The 4s run in varied directions which adds to the interest of the design. Back-to-back 4s at 9 and 10 stand out as key challenges, requiring long, well-placed drives and precise iron play. Reading has a strong set of 3s, where hazards play a significant role. The signature fifth over a dam is my favourite. The finishing stretch of 15-18 is memorable and narrow. The 19th has a welcoming atmosphere. Pro shop is well-stocked.
