Ongoing construction work around clubhouse. New pro shop at the entrance, and the halfway house, in its usual place, is improved and very good. The 19th hole is unaffected by the work. Course in good shape with greens running superbly well. The par-3 tees have taken a beating though, notably on No 5 which is one of the weaker holes, certainly not to the same standard of challenge as the other par 3s. Testing back nine for club golfers at Firethorn ending with a strong par-4 18th (455 off white). Long uphill approach to a well-protected green, particularly to any pin on the right side behind bunkers. The back nine is 270 metres longer (3345) than front nine. The par 4s average 403, while on the front nine it is 356. Bunkering from tee to green is cleverly positioned, notably on tree-lined fairways.
