The Garden Route has some of the most scenic coastal courses in South Africa, and Pezula is my favourite, largely because I love the design and the many thrilling holes that await throughout the round. I like the mix of inland and coastal holes, and they’re all of a high quality, unlike Pinnacle Point where the inland holes are inferior to those overlooking the ocean. The tee shots on the par 4s and 5s are so varied and interesting to play, with an element of risk to all of them. Pull off a good drive and you are rewarded. I viewed YouTuber Peter Finch, an accomplished British golfer, playing Pezula this summer. It’s an hour-long video of his round, tedious at times, but worth watching simply to see the golf holes in all their majesty from the air. The drone photography of all 18 holes confirms for me how spectacular a course this is.
