Gowrie Farm is not your everyday South African golf experience. It challenges every facet of your game and is a shot-maker’s course. Wind is variable and always present so you feel like you never play the same course twice. After years of playing here I still haven’t settled on a permanent strategy for many of the holes. Gowrie gives you choices on how to play. Chip off a tight lie or putt up the bank, although neither feels particularly safe! Land the green downwind and it will hold. Miss and you will have an awkward shot coming back. So land it 30 metres short and run it on to the green. If you’re struggling, just enjoy the amazing surroundings!
