Goldfields West offers a unique experience. This classic Bob Grimsdell layout, with its strategic design, has a storied history, formerly supported by the mining houses in the region. The course was teetering for a period, but following good rains and private investment, it is back! The par 3s are a highlight. The signature sixth plays downhill over water to a green with a bunker left. No 13 is another solid 3 played off an elevated tee offering a great visual of the raised green. The two lowest stroked holes will test the club golfer as they play at close to par 5 distances (No 2 is 447 off club tee, while the uphill 10th plays 443), and there is no chance of a “bomb and gouge” on these holes. Conditioning is very good, with fairways and tees in particularly good shape. The course’s bushveld surroundings add to its charm, with wildlife roaming the fairways and adding to the experience. The natural beauty enhances the sense of peace and isolation, making it a true escape from the city. In terms of difficulty, Goldfields West presents a formidable challenge with tough angles and narrow landing areas, but it is also fun to play and anything but routine. Golfers will receive a warm welcome from the friendly staff.
