George has been struggling the past two years with its conditioning, and the appointment of a new greenkeeper has immediately shown some improvement. George is fortunate in having good quality greens that run well on putts and have that firmness too for pitch shots and approaches. A tract of land between the 18th green and first fairway has been cleared of trees and shrubs and should become a more attractive area. It allows for a better view of the opening hole from the clubhouse which has been upgraded. Opening up vistas between holes — another new one for me is between the second fairway and third green — does accent the beauty of the property. The 530-metre second, one of the best holes on the course, has less clutter on the corner of the dogleg. There used to be bushes between the trees.
