An interesting mix of holes at this scenic Tsitsikamma 9-hole layout which comes with an attractive clubhouse. One of the most beautiful views of the rugged coastline comes on the par-4 seventh tee, where you are on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. I spotted a whale breaching, and there are many sightings during winter. The last four holes are among the best. No 6 is a stunning dogleg left par 4 heading towards the sea, No 7 another 4 along the edge of the cliff, No 8 a superb par 3 with multiple tee options to an enormous green with a flag on either end. A feature of Fynbos is two flags on every green, to introduce variety for each nine. The round ends with a strong uphill 4 back to the clubhouse. Possibly the toughest hole at Fynbos is the unusual par-5 third (483m). You drive up one fairway, guarded by two large bunkers, and then cross over a wetland to another fairway on the left. Quite a long carry into the wind, followed by an uphill approach to the green. The fourth is a testing 3 with a long green, playing 188 from the very back tee. Greens are paspalum, rare in the Eastern Cape.
