Erinvale have made a significant alteration to the fairway bunkering on the seventh hole, probably the best par 5 on the course. Situated on flat terrain in a far lower corner of the estate alongside the neighbouring suburb, it plays a daunting 551 metres from the yellow tee. There was a long fairway bunker on the left side of the hole, and that has been grassed over. Three new bunkers have now been built right of the fairway, presumably to try and steer golfers away from the estate homes on that side. The absence of the left fairway bunker means a drainage ditch along the left of the hole comes more into play for a big draw or hook. The old bunker did stop many balls from running into the ditch. For those who do find the fairway off the tee, there remains the challenge of trying to carry the ditch — where it crosses the fairway short of the green — with their second shots. The clubhouse has had further upgrades, and the 19th hole experience is excellent.
