Erinvale offers one of the most visually impressive golfing experiences in the Cape Winelands, a must-play course for its design, scenery, and shot values.. The overall aesthetics ensure a memorable round as the Gary Player design takes full advantage of its mountain backdrops and fairways that weave through attractive terrain. Expansive greens complexes are a highlight, with excellent shaping and multiple pin options that can alter strategy and difficulty. Combined with elevation changes and natural contours of the holes, Erinvale provides golfers with variety and shot-making demands. It is not overly long, yet doglegs and sidehill lies add to the challenge. The par 5s present the best scoring opportunities. Favoured by a light breeze, many are reachable in two, rewarding aggressive play. By contrast, the strong 4s define much of the difficulty. Hole 6 (stroke 1) demands precision into a green guarded by water and bunkers, while 17 (411, stroke 2) has out of bounds right and trees left of the fairway. The clubhouse offers a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful setting to relax after golf. On the downside, the bunkers were inconsistent, with stones affecting playability. While Erinvale provides a solid experience, it is not keeping pace with some of its Winelands competitors. A renewed focus on player service, coupled with attention to the bunkering, would elevate the overall experience.
