As DCC’s upgrade matures and evolves, it is evident the course will contend to be the very best in SA. The layout is superb, providing an exceptional range of stroke making, while the new larger bent grass greens provide for multiple pin placements. This ensures DCC will remain a true championship course and top choice to host tournaments. Despite the extensive clearing of silver leaf bush on the course, Golf Data have ensured an exceptional test of golf and beautified the course remarkably by showcasing the formerly overgrown sand dunes and hidden trees. The single biggest improvement has been the green complexes. With the new Super Seven bent, DCC can boast the best greens of any coastal course in SA. Durban has had their entire annual rainfall in the first four months of the year which has negatively impacted low-lying areas of the course. However, there is a plan to alleviate the collection of excessive storm water. My sole critique concerns the newly planted heavy and thick grass in strategic areas which come into play. It is penal, often resulting in a lost ball. Impossible for most members to play recovery shots. Some further attention to detail in terms of maintenance and DCC will return to the pinnacle of SA golf.
